To any who stumble upon this site–Welcome.  I hope you find something that resonates with your own journey, or just enjoy reading about mine.  It is nothing special, yet it is–because it is mine.  My writing will not usually be formal, but, in a sense, stream of consciousness.  There is no real “theme” to Persephone–except that she is rising, and learning to speak her mind as she exits the darkness.  So, please do not judge me or any of my teachers or professors if you find spelling errors (although I try to keep those minimal), run-on paragraphs (blame WordPress, since I can’t seem to get the hang of how to get that right),  annoying repitition, oddly constructed sentences, or any other errors which would cause anguish to those who were my teachers.

As a personal introduction:  I am a 55 year old “crone” (those who are familiar with the triple goddess will understand just what a journey it is to GET to that stage), a married mother of three grown children.  I have owned my own business (with my mother, who is my role model, and whom I adore), taught at both the high school and the university level, and mentored at-risk incoming students at an un-named university–which was my favorite job of all.  I have a bachelor’s degree in English, and double majored in African American Studies.  I have a Master’s degree in American History, with a focus on African American Studies, and did a post-graduate residency in a PhD. program in Religion in the African American community, which I did not complete before illness sidelined me.

Currently, I am a “victim” (I abhor that word!) of educational cutbacks in upstate New York, where we have lived for almost 6 years.  My husband of almost 10 years is a genetic biologist.  I have a son currently in a PhD. program in Ohio (James of James’  Thoughts and Musings); another son, an engineer who lives in Florida,  where he works in environmental testing;  and a daughter, who has  degrees in counseling psychology and esthetics,  and has her own salon in Indiana.  I am very proud of all of them.

So, I hope within these meanderings, you will find a little something of interest.   Thanks for stopping by.
